Teaching how to write Japanese in ‘romaji’ using gaigana

Those who have the gaigana font installed on their computer may use it to quickly convey extra information about Japanese words which is not possible using any other ‘Latin’ font. The following six levels allow a sensei to convey increasing detail about the Japanese words represented in his/ her text. Each level requires more awareness of a words kanji readings.  Levels 1-3 are directed at students, and 4-6 are for sensei. Level 4 may be used where a teacher may wish to represent words that are obviously ‘on’ while ignoring words for which there is any doubt, the purpose of level 4 is to allow general ‘loose’ use of the paradigm without wasting time meticulously applying it to words for which a sensei has any question.   Please note exceptional words in the ‘Conventions’ page next, also the first here entry should read hangaigana.
